A graduate of the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design and a Best of Houzz winner, Anna Sandberg founded A+U Design Studio, LLC. Anna completed internships at HOK and Kirksey architectural firms. She was also chosen as the Houston regional design professional to advise clients of a national home products supplier. Anna and her team have designed, renovated and furnished spaces ranging from Heights bungalows to high-rise penthouses.
Anna’s work is designed to impact not only the spaces but also the lives of those who interact with the spaces, whether it is a stunning home or a creative business environment. As a life-long Houstonian, she is committed to the community. This includes donating her time and talents to the Houston Heights Holiday Home Tour and the VOX Culture Series benefit.
A+U Design Studio firmly believes in serving the community by partnering with groups focused on bringing about social change, supporting the arts, and educating the public through large fund-raising events. Our participation in these events, supporting various under-served groups, helps us better understand the needs of our community and become a more responsible contributing partner.
In November of 2015, we were asked to stage one of the houses on the Heights “I’ll Be Home For The Holidays” Home Tour in December. It was a great opportunity to be a part of the annual festivities and get to work in the 1940’s space. We paired sentimental pieces, that belonged to the homeowners, with décor that we brought in to enhance the “modern, mid-century, eclectic-style bungalow”. Although we helped stage both exterior and interior, we concentrated most on their dining room and made the dining table the focal point of the space.
Proclaiming Humanity: The Beauty in Courage – This mixer, fashion show, artist bazaar focused on the cause for awareness and empowerment of domestic violence survivors. As the final event of the Vox Culture Series, it was presented along with Supporters & Friends Benefiting the Tahirih Justice Center of Houston. Working with the floor plan and the colors of the event, we designed a u-shaped, raised runway lit from underneath to create a fuchsia glow. Black chair covers were accented with white and fuchsia satin ribbons wrapped around the chair backs to resemble the stripes in the campaign. Along with the stage and seating, we incorporated up-lighting along the walls, and floral arrangements to further enhance the design.
